An alert quick moving happy chap, the Norwich has a broad skull, short muzzle and pointed erect ears, - remembered because Norwich has church spires! He is a compact, sturdy dog, good with children and not quarrelsome, he makes a good watchdog. The coat is close with a hard straight top coat and a thick undercoat, the ruff on the neck frames the smoother face. Occasional stripping needed. Tail may be docked or undocked.
Colours are red, wheaten, black and tan or grizzle.
