Originally from the Lake District in England, first recognised in 1921, this is a quick smart dog and a keen guard with a loud bark. He has small 'V' shaped, tipped over ears. Tail carried cheerfully but not over his back and is still docked. The coat is thick harsh, dense and weatherproof but requires stripping.
Colours are black and tan, blue and tan, red, wheaten, red grizzle, liver, blue or black.
