A French dog with various names - The Great Pyrenees, Chien des Pyrénées or Pyrenean Mountain dog and not to be confused with the Pyrenees Mastiff which is Spanish. Used as a guard among the sheep, as a guide in mountains or a guardian of property. This is a very large, strong dog, the head is large and bear like, ears small, triangular and pendent. The tail hangs in a plumb line when at rest and is raised in a curve when on the move or excited. The coat is medium long and soft with a very thick undercoat.
Colour is white, some light tan, badger or grey markings are allowed.
