A very active breed that only for the most energetic handlers can cope with. Workmanlike in build and free from exaggeration, the border collie appeals as a 'natural' breed. Ears are either erect or semi-erect. Eyes, brown except in merles when one or both may be blue. The coat may be either smooth or long, straight or waved, both to have undercoat.
Colours - a variety of colours are allowed but white should never predominate.
