A medium sized Italian sheep dog with 'felted mats he is strongly built but very well proportioned. A little square in body. The coat is a feature of the breed, the long matt are known as 'broccoli'. These are split by hand into manageable sizes while young. The head can be combed.
Colour are grey, solid or with spots. Spots may be all shades of grey. Solid black is allowed but should be dull and not at all shiny. Solid white is discouraged, but white markings are acceptable if not more than 20%.
