Information taken from the 'MacDonald Encyclopedia of Dogs'
This breed in native to Mexico and is known in most of South America and comes in two sizes. He is named after the ancient god Xoloti - Xoloitcuintli. Natives used to eat this dog, but at the end of the nineteenth century, it became a companion dog. Resembling a robust Manchester Terrier he has a broad skull and long muzzle with a black or flesh coloured nose. The ears are bat like about 4" long Tail is long and sleek with short hair at the end. This breed does not have a coat, only one long tuft of hair on it's head. The skin may fall in heavy folds over its body and neck
Colour of the skin is redish grey, eyes can be dark to yellow
He is not recognised in the UK as a seperate breed. Therefore he may only be shown at exemption shows in the non pedigree classes.
