The general appearance is that of a sturdy, symmetrically built working terrier like that of an old-fashioned Sealyham type. There should be a combination of substance, power, balance and hard muscular condition. Any tendency to grossness or weediness is a serious fault. It should be remembered that the Lucas terrier was developed to work in a pack environment to push game out of heavy cover to waiting guns and not as an earth dog. ----
Created from a mix of small old-fashioned type Sealyhams and Norfolk terriers. Excellent companion dog. --- The Lucas not a quarrelsome dog, he mixes well with other animals, and is in his element when in the company of people, particularly children, ---Not noisy. Does require hand stripping of coat.
Colour are Tan, saddle and tan, white with tan, white with black or white with black and tan. Solid Black is not allowed.
