Not to be confused with the Finnish Elkhound which is smaller and a bit hairier or the Small Grey Elk dog, the Norwegian Elkhound is a hardy strong dog built for stamina and activity. A Spitz type with the prick ears and tightly curled tail he is a determined character but can be very obedient. The coat is double fairly short and standing off.
