Purpose built gundog from Italy, this excellent retriever's harsh coat protects him from bramble and water. This should be 4-6cms (1½-2½") long, also known also as the Spinone Italiano or Italian Griffon .
Solid and square, built for stamina he carries dew claws on all four legs. He has a long lean head and deep yellow or ochre eyes the pigment is fleshy red on white dogs - deeper on other Colours. Tail is usually docked
Colours are white with or without orange or brown markings, orange or brown roan.
