Built for speed, strength and endurance, this galloping breed need a lot of exercise. His dish-faced a head and thin tail are characteristics and he is famous for his spectacular, statuesque and motionless pose when he has scented a bird. He has a strong scenting ability, is kind and obedient. His coat is fine, short and hard.
Colours are usually white with lemon, orange, liver or black. Self colours and tricolours are correct.
