The American Cocker is the smallest member of the gundog group. He has a sturdy, compact body and a cleanly chiselled refined head, the dog should have a sloping top line which he should hold on the move, He is a dog capable of considerable speed, he should be free, merry, sound and well balanced throughout and show a inclination to work.

Colours range from jet black, black and tan, brown and tan, parti-colour, roan or tricolour
