Information from 'Abricot' and Trailview
The Sealyham has great substance, an oblong outline, short legs and is a free moving and active dog. They are strong willed and obstinate, though loveable and companionable. The double coat needs regular combing with a strong wire comb to keep it mat free. Stripping is done twice a year, the body should never be clipped as it will become soft, not harsh. Hand stripping will keep the colour darker but with clippering, the colour will gradually lighten and fade. Tails are still docked.
Colour is all white, or white with pied markings on the head and ears of lemon, brown, blue or badger.
A bit of Sealy trivia: When Sealys are born, the coloring in the head markings starts out very dark. Monty's has now lightened to a true blue badger color, a mix of gray, black and tan, which isn't as dark as it was in this picture. Handstripping will keep the color darker but with clippering, the color will gradually lighten and fade.
This breed has Kennel Club Challenge Certificates at most Championship Shows.
