A Powerful, yet gracefully built dog, the Wolfhound is of great size and substance, indeed the only thing small about this breed are the rose shaped ears. Not a natural guard his size deters intruders. He is kind, gentle and trusting and needs firm but never harsh handling. His eyes are dark and oval. The coat is rough and harsh on the body, legs and head and especially wiry over the eyes and under the chin.
Colours are grey, brindle, red, black, pure white, fawn wheaten and steel grey.
