Started out as a miners 'rat' dog but was develoved by 1870 into the type we see today. One of the most decorative breeds, the Yorkie should be compact and neat, with an upright carriage. This is a very good house dog with an alert brain and a protective outlook! Tail is still docked.He is shown in full coat with a ribbon to keep the hair out of his eyes. The coat should be straight with a parting from nose to tail, glossy and silky.
Colour is dark steel blue and tan
